RISE Charter School, a K-8 public charter school in Southeast Raleigh, recently welcomed Raleigh Mayor Janet Cowell to campus. Way to go, RISE! We always love to see charter schools hosting local elected leaders to show them the amazing work they’re doing with students.
We share the write-up from RISE below.
On Friday, RISE had the honor of welcoming Mayor Janet Cowell to our campus! Principal Jowers and Ms. Graham guided her through several classrooms, where she met scholars, peeked into lessons, and felt the positive energy that fills our building.
A highlight came when the Mayor settled into a Kindergarten classroom to read Be Kind which capped our school’s week long focus on kindness. Scholars listened closely, asked great questions, and proudly shared the RISE Creed.
The visit ended with a conversation with our Scholar Government Association, who impressed the Mayor with their leadership, confidence, and ideas for Raleigh’s future.
We were especially grateful for Mayor Cowell’s generosity of time during a challenging week for our city. Her presence brought warmth, encouragement, and visibility to our school community at just the right moment.
