You are invited to join the Coalition!

Thank you for your interest in supporting the North Carolina Coalition for Charter Schools.

The Coalition was established in 2018 to protect and promote public charter schools in North Carolina. Becoming a Coalition member is one of the most important ways you can support our efforts and ensure that quality charter school opportunities continue to exist for North Carolina families.

We invite you to explore our two membership options below.

Charter School Members (Greatest Value for Schools)

  • Are voting members of the organization.
  • Must be an operating charter school as approved by the Charter Schools Review Board (CSRB) under the NC Charter Agreement between the CSRB and a nonprofit corporation. Each school member appoints an individual to be its Designated Representative to attend meetings, cast votes, etc. An individual may serve as the Designated Representative for multiple school members.
  • Pay dues that reflect Average Daily Membership (ADM) and reflect the number of votes to elect directors on the Coalition Board. Schools up to 1,000 ADM pay annual dues of $10 per student (Ex.: $5,000 in dues for 500 ADM). Schools above 1,000 ADM pay annual membership dues on a sliding scale. Regardless of size, the number of votes per school is aligned to the amount paid in dues.
  • Will be awarded votes based on ADM for the first 20 days recorded at the beginning of the most recent school year. Voting shall be cumulative.

Organizational Members (Greatest Value for CMOs and EMOs)

  • Are voting members of the organization.
  • May be corporations, such as Education Management Organizations (EMOs) or Charter Management Organizations (CMOs).
  • May join up to the ADM of the largest independently operated charter school in North Carolina. An Organizational Member is awarded votes to elect directors on the Coalition Board based on the amount paid in dues.
